Man killed in North Carolina work accident

Most people recognize that there are hazards in all workplaces, despite the best efforts of both employers and workers to ensure that everyone is safe. Despite this knowledge, no one is likely prepared to be involved in a work accident. Unfortunately, a man in North Carolina recently lost his life in a construction accident.

The incident occurred on a day in late September. According to reports, the deceased victim was working at Edwards Mill Products and was employed by Quality Construction of America Inc. According to the public information officer with the N.C. Department of Labor, workers were installing a log deck.

At the time of the accident, workers were placing plates between metal deck runners. The victims was reportedly adjusting a plate when a tack broke. As a result, the worker fell approximately 18 feet. The man was transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries.

It is difficult for many families to prepare for the unexpected loss of a family member. In addition to their grief, they are often left to cope with significant financial complications due to lost wages and funeral expenses. As a result, employers in North Carolina are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage that can help victims of a work accident -- including family members in the event of a fatality -- cope with these burdens. An attorney with experience with the compensation process can help those victims pursue an appropriate settlement, allowing them to focus on recovery.
