3 flown to hospital following work accident

Most employees in North Carolina are trained to avoid accidents, especially those caused by known risks in a work environment. Despite this training, accidents can still happen as a result of unexpected incidents. Unfortunately, three men were recently transported to the hospital by helicopter following a recent work accident in another state.

The incident that led to the men's hospitalization happened just after 8 a.m. on a day in early December. According to reports, the workers were performing maintenance on a production unit at United Initiators, a company that manufactures peroxide. Unfortunately, an explosion occurred.

A spokesperson for the company claims that the explosion was the result of decomposing benzoyl peroxide. Reports indicate that a chemical release did not occur, but there was not fire. While the spokesperson declined to comment on the severity of the injuries suffered in the accident, police confirmed that the victims were transported to the hospital by helicopter. Production has been stopped at the facility, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Depending on the severity of the injuries suffered in the work accident, the three victims may potentially face a lengthy recovery. Because medical bills, in combination with lost wages, can quickly become overwhelming, employers are required to provide workers' compensation insurance benefits. Victims of such incidents in North Carolina often seek guidance from an experienced attorney as they seek fair compensation. With such a professional working on the side of injured workers, they are able to focus on their overall recovery rather than how they will meet their financial obligations.
