3 suffer burn injuries in workplace accident

The potential for harm in any workplace is likely known. Employers in North Carolina and across the country typically work hard to educate workers about hazards, but despite their efforts, a workplace accident can still occur. Unfortunately, three workers have recently been hospitalized in another state following an incident that left them suffering from burn injuries.

The incident that led to their hospitalization happened one afternoon on a day in mid-November. According to reports, three workers, one employee of DCP Midstream and two contractors, were conducting routine maintenance on a gas pipeline well site belonging to PDC Energy Corp. Unfortunately, a spokesperson for the fire department claims that a flashover fire occurred.

All three workers were injured. Two were transported to the hospital by helicopter while one was taken by ambulance. The extent of the injuries are unclear. In addition to the injured workers, two vehicles were also damaged. The event was determined to be an industrial accident, and an investigation is looking into the cause of the fire.

Unfortunately, the recovery from burn injuries can be long and painful. Often, victims must miss an extended period of work, creating financial uncertainty due to lost wages and medical expenses. Because of the financial harm a workplace accident can create, employers in North Carolina and across the country are required to provide workers' compensation insurance coverage. These benefits can ensure that injured workers are able to fully focus on their overall recovery rather than their financial situation. An attorney with experience with these claims can help pursue a fair settlement.
