Work accident involving crane leads to man's injuries

If an employee’s equipment fails to work properly on the job site, this may lead to tragic injuries to the worker in North Carolina. A man unfortunately suffered serious injuries in a recent work accident in another state. The accident involved a crane, valued at a few million dollars, which malfunctioned.

The man was performing wind turbine-related work early in the morning; specifically, he was part of a crew that was repairing gear boxes. While the man was using the crane, a safety feature on it stopped working. The crane then tipped over, and the cab of the crane ended up being crushed while the man was inside of it, authorities said.

The man suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital via helicopter. His condition appeared to be stable. Health and safety administration officials investigated the accident.

When a worker suffers injuries as a result of faulty machinery, this can spark several emotions in the employee and his or her family members. They might be fearful about the individual's ability to recover quickly from the work accident, and they might also be concerned about how they will make ends meet while the employee is out of commission. This is especially the case if the injured worker was the primary or sole breadwinner of his or her household. Workers’ compensation insurance in North Carolina fortunately can help injured workers to get the benefits they need in order to keep their households going financially. It is within one's rights to seek the total amount of benefits deemed reasonable in a particular case.
