Many North Carolina workers are at risk of injury on the job — some more than others. Several industries have high rates of workers’ compensation claims. A recent construction accident demonstrates the significant danger associated with this type of work, not only throughout the state but across the country, as well.

There were two workers on scaffolding when tragedy struck.  The apparatus collapsed, sending the two employees plummeting into the rubble below. Both suffered injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. Their employer stated that both workers were conscious and coherent after the accident.

Scaffolding fell 3 stories in the construction accident

Witnesses say they heard loud noises and a lot of screaming and were horrified to see the scaffolding tumbling to the ground. The site had reportedly been under construction for months. Company representatives issued a public statement saying that safety is their utmost priority, and their hearts go out to the Ohio workers and families who are suffering because of the recent scaffolding accident.

In Florida and all other states, employees who suffer injuries on the job may file a workers’ compensation claim. The employer’s insurance provides injured workers with benefits that include financial supplements during recovery. Benefits cover medical bills, replace lost wages, and more. If a claim is denied initially, it is best to seek legal support to learn more about the appeals process. Many claims that were initially denied are later approved on appeal.
