2 injured in lift-related construction accident

Mechanical lifts may be a constant fixture on job sites when tasks require workers in North Carolina an elsewhere to operate at heights. While similar types of equipment may play an integral role in performing such tasks, they could also pose a certain level of threat to the safety of workers under certain circumstances. A construction accident in another state that occurred when a mechanical lift tipped over has reportedly left two workers with severe injuries.

The incident is said to have taken place on a recent Tuesday just before 9 a.m. as the workers were performing job-related tasks on a construction site. They were reportedly using a mechanical lift to transport materials when the machine apparently became unbalanced and tipped over, tossing them to the ground in the process. The two men reportedly fell approximately 15 feet to the ground below and they were found lying underneath the materials they were carrying.

Officials have advised that both men were transported to a medical facility with injuries, one of whom was subsequently airlifted to another facility for additional care. Accidents involving falls from heights run the risk of causing severe harm, regardless of the height of the fall. When combined with the presence of falling objects, such a scenario may quickly become a recipe for disaster.

A major construction accident runs the unfortunate chance of leaving workers with severe injuries. Those who face the likelihood of experiencing a loss of income during the recovery period while dealing with extensive medical costs could benefit from consulting with an attorney for guidance on their options. In doing so, a person in North Carolina could obtain much needed advice on how best to prepare to seek the full amount of compensation achievable through every available source.
