It might take little more than a moment of distraction or a temporary bout with fatigue for a driver to lose control of a vehicle and drift into oncoming lanes. Those who cross paths with a wrong-way driver may find it nearly impossible to react in time to avoid a collision and the outcome of the incident could place the well-being of everyone involved in peril. A recent car accident involving a wrong-way driver has left three individuals with serious injuries and claimed the life of a woman in North Carolina.

The crash

Law enforcement agents say the incident took place on a recent Monday night when the driver of a northbound car suddenly lost control and veered across the median. The car proceeded to drift into oncoming lanes of traffic before crashing into a second vehicle head-on. According to reports, a passenger who was riding in the car suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Reports indicate that both occupants in the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a hospital for medical care. The driver of the car was taken to a medical facility for treatment of injuries considered to be life-threatening. While no further information was provided as to what might have caused the driver of the car to lose control and veer off course, authorities have advised that their investigation remains underway and charges will be filed upon its completion.

Injury or loss

Individuals who suffer severe injuries or lose someone close in a car accident under similar scenarios may find the outcome thereof challenging to accept. Extensive medical costs and end-of-life expenses are just two examples of financial challenges that might stem from such a crash and such issues could place significant strain on a person’s life. Individuals in North Carolina who encounter similar trials and wish to know more about their available options for legal recourse might consider speaking with an attorney for advice on their options and assistance in preparing to navigate the civil justice system.
