2 killed in accident involving overturned tractor-trailer

It might not always be possible to react to the hazards that arise on the open road, especially those that seem to come out of nowhere. Items that fall off the trailer of a commercial vehicle are an example of a danger that could catch drivers off-guard and road debris could pose a significant threat to the safety of everyone nearby. Two individuals were killed during a recent car accident in North Carolina that took place after logs fell off the back of an overturned tractor-trailer and rolled into oncoming lanes of traffic.

Crash reports

Law enforcement agents reportedly responded to the scene of a fatal collision on a recent Wednesday. Reports indicate that the incident began when the driver of a tractor-trailer suddenly lost control and veered into the median. The truck proceeded to overturn soon thereafter, and authorities say that logs began to fall off the trailer and roll into oncoming lanes.

Authorities say that the logs proceeded to crash into an oncoming car, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and down a nearby embankment. There were two people in the car at the time, a woman and her child, both of whom died at the scene of the crash. Although the investigation into the crash reportedly remains underway, authorities have advised that charges will be filed pending its completion.

Fatal truck accident

No one should have to endure the loss of a loved one in a car accident due to the negligent actions of another party. Individuals in North Carolina who suffer loss under similar scenarios might find it helpful to speak with an attorney for advice on all their available options for legal recourse. An attorney can evaluate the incident thoroughly and assist a client in preparing to seek the restitution entitled through a wrongful death claim against all parties deemed responsible.
