Crash at intersection kills 1, injures 4 in North Carolina

It may come as no surprise that intersections continue to be a hotspot for major collisions. Drivers who fail to yield right of way when crossing into an intersection may leave others nearby with little chance of responding to the situation, and they may place the safety of everyone involved at risk in the process. Failure to yield was listed as a contributing factor during a recent car accident that claimed the life of one person and left four others with injuries in North Carolina.

Intersection crash

Law enforcement agents say they responded to reports of the crash at around 8:15 a.m. on a recent Monday. Reports indicate the collision began when the driver of a southbound vehicle failed to yield right of way before crossing into an intersection and turning onto westbound lanes. Authorities say the vehicle proceeded to crash into a nearby pickup truck.

Reports indicate that three occupants in the truck suffered injuries and were each rushed to a medical facility for treatment, one of whom was a 7-year-old child. Authorities say that a passenger in the first vehicle also suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. The driver who caused the crash reportedly suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Severe injuries

Those who suffer severe injuries in a car accident involving such negligence may find it difficult to accept the outcome thereof. Health conditions stemming from a collision could create numerous hardships and disrupt one’s quality of life, and the financial repercussions involved may prove burdensome in nature. Following the crash, a person in North Carolina could consider consulting with an attorney for assistance in evaluating the situation and creating a strategy with which to seek the full amount of compensation entitled through a personal injury claim.
