Woman dies after attempting to provide aid following crash

After encountering others who are stranded in the lanes of traffic and in need of aid, many individuals may feel inclined to pull over and check on the safety of those involved. While this may be an admirable decision, it could also be somewhat hazardous at times, especially if other drivers nearby fail to use caution upon approaching the scene. A woman was reportedly hit and killed during a recent car accident after she had stopped to provide aid following a previous incident in North Carolina.

The incident

Authorities have advised that initial collision took place on a recent Sunday at around 2:30 a.m. when a driver was attempting to pull out of a parking lot. This vehicle reportedly collided with a southbound car and the impact of the crash forced the first vehicle to overturn. Reports indicate that a couple who witnessed the crash pulled over to provide aid.

According to reports, a woman was standing outside of the first vehicle while checking on the occupants when the driver of a third vehicle failed to spot her upon approaching the scene. The vehicle hit her soon thereafter and authorities advised that she was pronounced dead at the scene. While it remains unclear as to why the driver of the third vehicle might have failed to notice the scene of the first crash and react accordingly, reports indicate that impairment and speeding are suspected as contributing factors in the initial incident.

Losing a loved one

Losing a loved one in a car accident can be a devastating experience that surviving family members may carry with them through the rest of their lives. Should this loss occur due to the actions of another party, a family in North Carolina could choose to consult with legal counsel for guidance on the next steps to take to seek accountability through the civil justice system. Such guidance may prove vital to helping a person better understand what to expect from the process and help place him or her in a better position in which to seek the compensation entitled through the proper outlets.
