Charges filed in single-vehicle crash that killed 1, injured 2

One person died and two others suffered injuries in a recent single-vehicle collision in a suspected drunk driving accident in North Carolina. In some cases, those who ride as passengers in a motor vehicle may have little to no control over the decisions of the driver. Should the driver’s negligent behavior lead to a serious car accident, the incident could leave passengers with life-altering injuries or leave surviving family members grieving over an unexpected loss.

Single-vehicle crash

Authorities received reports of the single-car crash at around 2:30 a.m. on a recent Monday. According to investigations, the incident began when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the side of the road. Authorities say that the driver’s attempts to steer back on course caused the vehicle to leave the ground before crashing into a nearby utility pole.

Reports indicate that two passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the incident, one of whom was rushed to a medical facility with injuries, while the other was pronounced dead at the scene. According to authorities, investigations revealed that excessive speeding and impairment were both contributing factors in the incident. They say the driver has already been issued a citation in relation to the incident and it appears that he could be facing numerous charges pending the completion of the investigation.

In search of answers

Individuals in North Carolina who suffer severe injuries or sudden loss in a car accident involving such negligence may experience an understandable need for answers, or justice. Following the crash, a person could find it helpful to consult with an attorney for advice on the best course of action with which to proceed. An attorney can provide a client with insight on all his or her available legal options and assist in preparing to seek the restitution deserved through the appropriate outlets.
