A 54-year-old man who worked at a lumber mill near Greenville sustained serious injuries on Aug. 4, resulting in his death. The mill where he worked was closed for more than 24 hours following the incident in order to facilitate an investigation. A team from the company was reportedly cooperating with Occupational Safety and Health Administration to determine the cause of the accident. Both the company and OSHA are pursuing separate investigations into the matter. The Occupational Safety and Health Division of the North Carolina Department of Labor said that the closure of the plant was a company decision and not a product of any action taken by state agencies.
