Fatal work accident near Disney World under investigation

Most people in North Carolina and across the country associate Disney World with happiness and family fun. However, there is often a great deal of energy and effort put in by a variety of different workers to ensure that a visit goes smoothly. Unfortunately, a worker in a Walt Disney World employee area was recently the victim of a fatal work accident.

The incident reportedly happened on a day in mid-August. According to reports, two workers were at an energy facility, emptying grease and oil byproduct into a semitrailer. Unfortunately, one worker, who is said to have been standing on a grate, slipped and fell into the vat.

The other worker attempted to help him from the vat but was unsuccessful. The victim, a 61-year-old man, was overcome by fumes and fell in further. Reports indicate that the fire department helped recover the man's body.

No family is ever prepared for the unexpected loss of a loved one. In addition to leaving surviving family members to cope with the grief that comes with such a loss, many in North Carolina are also left to cope with serious financial ramifications. Because all workplaces hold the potential of a work accident, employers are required to provide workers' compensation benefits. These benefits will not reduce the emotional burden; however, they can ensure that families are able to focus on their recovery rather than their ability to pay their bills. Though the process may seem overwhelming to some -- especially while in mourning -- experienced professionals can help guide them through it.
