Tractor-trailer driver suffers fatal workplace injuries

Any job that requires a worker to spend a significant amount of time on the interstate comes with the risk of being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Those who drive tractor-trailers in North Carolina and across the country for a living -- and their families -- are likely all too aware of the potential for harm. Unfortunately, a driver recently suffered fatal workplace injuries in an accident that took place in another state.

The crash that took the man's life happened one morning on a day in January. A state police officer who responded to the scene claims that the initial call indicated that there was a tractor-trailer that was on fire. When he arrived at the scene, however, he discovered the tractor-trailer overturned in the median with its load of industrial parts spilled into the northbound lanes.

The driver -- whose identity was not immediately released following the accident -- died as a result of injuries suffered. The driver of a northbound SUV did not see the spilled parts in the road, striking one which caused his airbag to deploy and disabled his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital.

Even when the potential dangers of an occupation is known, no family is prepared for the news of the unexpected death of their loved one due to workplace injuries. Many families find that the financial ramifications associated with their loss can quickly become overwhelming. While some may qualify for workers' compensation insurance benefits, the average person in North Carolina has little experience with the process, prompting many families to seek guidance from a professional with experience negotiating for fair compensation.
