Workplace accident leaves man with life-threatening injuries

Every day in North Carolina and elsewhere, people are injured in their places of work. Recently, in another state, a man suffered severe injuries while on the job. The workplace accident that caused these injuries is still under investigation.

According to reports, an industrial worker -- a 63-year-old male -- became trapped in the cab of his tractor-trailer while attempting to discard sand from the trailer bed. It is still unclear how it happened, but somehow, while the trailer was elevated, the cab swung to the side of the trailer and the trailer then fell on top of the cab. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is likely to investigate if any safety violations contributed to this accident.

As a result of this incident, the driver was pinned inside the cab. It took rescue workers over 45 minutes to free the man from his truck. He was then flown to a medical center for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

A workplace accident that leaves a victim with severe, life-threatening injuries is not an insignificant thing. There is no telling how this incident will fully affect the victim personally and professionally both now and in the future. To help this individual and his family with the losses they have likely experienced as a result of this incident, he may file for workers' compensation benefits. North Carolina residents who have suffered injuries in the workplace may also file to obtain such benefits. An experienced attorney can assist injured workers in achieving full benefits which would allow them put their focus on their recoveries and have fewer economic concerns.
