Worker recently killed in North Carolina construction accident

Victims of construction accidents, and their families, have a variety of options on their side when harmed in a construction accident. A construction worker was recently killed approximately an hour southeast of the Asheville area. The victim worked for a construction company and had been employed by the construction company for just shy of ten years. According to the co-owner of the company the victim worked for, he was running a machine and was thrown from it. A fellow employee found the victim who failed to respond and was pronounced dead by emergency personnel shortly after they arrived at the scene. Though the victim's family was contacted, they did not wish to comment. The construction accident is currently under investigation by authorities.

Construction site accidents, including machinery accidents, can, unfortunately, sometimes be horrific in nature. Victims, or families who have suffered the loss of a loved one in a construction accident, may also suffer significant damages in addition to the harm suffered in the accident. Victims and their families may face financial uncertainty in addition to physical and emotional damages that result from a construction accident.

Because of the dangerous nature of the construction profession, protections are available to ensure victims and their families receive compensation for damages when necessary. Workers' compensation benefits can include compensation for lost wages, medical expenses and survivor's benefits when necessary. Additional workers' compensation benefits may be available depending on the circumstances of the accident and the harm suffered. In circumstances when a party other than the construction worker's employer has negligently caused the harm suffered by the victim, personal injury and wrongful death claims options may be available as well.

There may be challenges victims of construction accidents face when making workers' compensation or personal injury claims for the damages they have suffered. It is important for victims of construction accidents and their families to keep in mind that the legal system is in place to ensure they are properly compensated and to help them to the extent it is able during a difficult time.
