Work accident involving saw leads to employee injury

Operating machinery or tools on the job can be dangerous if the equipment malfunctions or is not used correctly. When a person in North Carolina is injured as a result of this type of accident, he or she may feel unsettled about being able to recover and get back to the job site quickly. Unfortunately, one man in another state was recently injured in a construction site work accident.

Firefighters were called to a work site where a man was reportedly wounded, officials said. He was on a building roof at the time of the incident. The accident happened during the morning hours.

Reports of the incident indicate that a man was utilizing a saw on a rooftop. At some point, the saw’s blade became dislodged and struck the man in his chest. Responding emergency workers loaded the man onto a stretcher that was hanging from their ladder truck. He was then transported to a hospital via an ambulance. His condition was deemed serious, authorities reported.

When a construction site work accident takes place, the injured employee might worry about how he or she can afford to miss work and cover treatment costs related to the incident. Fortunately, worker’s compensation insurance is designed to help these workers when they need it the most. Injured victims can receive enough benefits to cover a majority of their regular income while they are unable to work; benefits can also help to cover medical expenses. It is within the rights of a worker who has been hurt on the job to seek all benefits he or she is entitled to in North Carolina.
