Work accident involving bursting pipe leads to injuries

People in North Carolina typically don't go to work each day with the expectation that they will be injured. Rather, they generally take extra precautions to prevent injuries, including wearing protective clothing and regularly getting training on how to properly use job-related equipment. Still, even the best safety training programs can't always prevent some unanticipated accidents. One work accident recently took place in another state, causing one worker to be injured.

The out-of-state incident occurred during the early evening hours. The accident happened when a pipe suddenly burst while he was working on the job. The man had to be taken to the hospital as a result of the accident.

At the time of the incident, the man trying to cut into a pipe. Metal from the pipe burst flew into his face, authorities said. The man's condition was not immediately known; nobody else suffered injuries in the incident.

It is a requirement for employers in North Carolina to buy workers' compensation insurance. Insurance benefits are paid to employees who suffer injuries in a work accident or fall ill on the job. These benefits can be a major help when workers can't earn income by working because they have to focus on physically recovering from the accident. Sometimes workers feel like they receive resistance when it comes to getting the benefits they need, or they may be concerned that they are not getting all of the benefits to which they are entitled. Obtaining assistance from someone with an accurate knowledge of the law may increase their chances of obtaining their workers' compensation insurance benefits in full.
