Work accident causes man on tower to be injured

Being hurt on the job can deal a blow to both a person’s physical ability and finances. When an individual cannot work for a period of time due to a work accident, he or she may find comfort in knowing that workers’ compensation insurance benefits are available for these types of situations in North Carolina. One man in a nearby state recently found himself in this scenario following a fall at his job site.

The incident took place when he partially fell off of a tower. The man apparently couldn’t maintain his grip while on a peg for climbing. He was about 125 feet high at the time.

The man fell about 15 feet or more, and then he struck the tower. He ended up being knocked unconscious. However, he later regained consciousness, and that’s when he lowered himself to a tower platform that was elevated. The man belonged to a crew responsible for completing tower maintenance work.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and used a harness to finish lowering the injured worker. The man, who hurt his shoulder, was then taken to the hospital with injuries deemed to be life-threatening. Employers purchase workers’ compensation insurance so that employees who get hurt in a work accident can have some of their regular wages covered. They can also get any medical treatments deemed necessary to bring them back to health as quickly as possible. An injured employee in North Carolina has the right to seek all compensation benefits deemed applicable in his or her unique case.
