Work accident involves fall onto hotel balcony

One of the most fearful experiences an employee may have in North Carolina is getting injured on the job. This is because a work accident can lead to injuries that cause physical pain and discomfort, or worse. It may also cause an individual to be unable to work, thus creating financial insecurity following an incident. One construction worker recently suffered injuries after a fall in another state.

The construction worker was working at a beach resort when he fell and ended up on a hotel balcony. The balcony was on the fourth floor of the facility, according to authorities. The accident happened just after noon on a recent Tuesday.

The injured worker was transported to the hospital, fire department officials said. It appears that the man was doing a regular inspection on a walkway and fell from there. Right now, work is being done to make the hotel's terrace on the fourth floor bigger, in addition to installing a lounge that faces the ocean, officials said.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials were gathering data to decide whether to investigate the matter further. Depending on the severity of the man’s injuries, he may be unable to continue his job for weeks or even months. Workers’ compensation insurance is designed to help the worker to cover part of his lost wages, as well as pay for medical expenses and related costs. The process of filing a workers’ compensation claim can be complex, but with appropriate legal guidance in North Carolina, an injured employee may boost his or her chances of claiming maximum benefits following a work accident.
