Work accident causes serious injuries to construction worker

In the construction field, a wide range of dangers can put a worker in the hospital or even in the grave if the injuries are serious enough. That's why it is particularly critical for construction sites to be safely maintained, following the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. If an employee ends up becoming injured in this type of work environment due to a work accident, he or she is typically entitled to workers' compensation benefits, which can help to make up for some of the individual's lost wages and help to get the necessary medical care in North Carolina.

In a recent out-of-state case, one construction worker ended up being injured in an accident. The crash took place on a university campus one morning. The employee was in his 20s and fell about 10 feet.

After falling through flooring, he became trapped under hundreds of pounds of lumber. Authorities had to use a bucket to free him from the building. He suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident.

Getting injured in a construction work accident can be scary, not only for the employee affected but also for his or her family members. They may fear a loss of wages and worry about whether their loved one will be able to get the medical treatment he or she requires. Workers' compensation is critical in squelching some of these concerns. An injured worker in North Carolina has the right to pursue all of the benefits to which he or she is entitled.
