North Carolina man injured in work accident

Hazards are present in any job situation, whether one works in an office setting or outside. Accidents can happen when workers least expect them to, and these situations can cause emotional distress along with physical pain. One man recently suffered an injury in a work accident in North Carolina, and in this type of situation, workers' compensation can be most helpful.

The accident happened when the man was taking apart a ride at the North Carolina State Fair recently. Authorities said that a part of the ride called The Vortex fell on him early in the morning. The incident occurred right after the fair had ended for the season.

The man, who was 35 years old, suffered a leg injury following the incident. The injured employee was transported to the hospital. Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

Businesses have the legal obligation of purchasing insurance that covers workers who suffer injuries or fall ill while at the workplace. Workers' compensation is beneficial because it can be awarded to an injured employee no matter who is at fault in an accident, and it also prevents employers from the threat of lawsuits. Further, an employer cannot fire a worker simply because he or she filed a workers' compensation claim. Workers' compensation benefits help to cover the wages that an injured employee loses as a result of an injury or illness that occurred on the job. Employees in North Carolina have the right to pursue what is in their best interest when striving to maximize the insurance benefits received as a result of a work accident.
