Worker files lawsuit after suffering fall from ladder

Fall accidents are amongst some of the most common and serious of all workplace accidents. Individuals employed as construction workers, contractors and painters are often prone to sustaining fall injuries as assigned work duties often require such workers to employ the use of scaffolding and ladders. In cases where employees are not properly trained and employers do not provide necessary safety equipment, serious workplace fall accidents can result.

One man, who was employed as a heating and air conditioning installer, recently suffered a serious fall accident while attempting to descend a ladder. The accident occurred as the man was descending a ladder to detach an air conditioner. The man slipped and fell approximately eight feet to the hard ground below.

As a result of the workplace injury, the man sustained numerous and painful injuries for which he was hospitalized for 11 days. The man recently filed a lawsuit against both his employer and co-worker who he claims were negligent in contributing to conditions which lead to his fall.

According to the lawsuit, the man contends the defendants failed to provide proper training and supervision related to safe ladder use. Additionally, the man asserts in the lawsuit that defendants were negligent in failing to provide for a safe workplace. Defendants are accused of failing to provide safety equipment that could have prevented such a fall accident. The man is seeking an unspecified amount of damages related to his injuries as well as medical expenses and lost wages.

Accidents and the resulting injuries such as those described above are especially devastating for skilled labor workers. Often such workers rely upon their physical strength and ability to provide for both themselves and their families. Workers who have been injured in workplace accidents would be wise to seek legal advice. In many cases, a worker may need to take legal action to ensure they receive just and fair compensation for their injuries.
