4 injured in construction site accident in North Carolina

Several construction workers in North Carolina were transported to area hospitals after falling nearly 20 feet while framing a roof. This incident reportedly occurred Sept. 8, in Union City. The construction site accident is not the first for the company, Trent Builders. In fact, the company has been fined twice before by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for failing to provide fall protection for its employees.

According to reports, the employees were working on framing the roof of a pavilion at an equestrian center when the truss they were placing fell. Four people were hurt in the incident, though the specifics of the injuries suffered has not been made public. These individuals were transported to area hospitals. They are all expected to recover.

Trent Builders was fined both in 2013 and 2015 by OSHA due to fall incidents. Those were reportedly on residential construction projects. An OSHA investigator was called to inspect the scene of this most recent incident. The results of that investigation are currently unknown.

Accidents at construction sites are common in North Carolina and elsewhere, as it is simply a dangerous field of work. When a construction site accident occurs, injured employees may find themselves not only struggling physically, but mentally and financially as well. Workers' compensation benefits are available after such incidents to help injured employees get through their recoveries, back on their feet physically and economically and, hopefully, back to work if they are able. Unfortunately, getting the full benefit may be a bit of a challenge. An experienced attorney can help injured workers not only fight for maximum benefits, but can help them pursue any other legal actions available in the effort to seek compensation for any damages sustained.
