Workplace accident involving chairlift leads to 2 injuries

Injuries that occur on the job in North Carolina can unfortunately lead to not only physical damages but also financial challenges. Fortunately, workers' compensation is designed to help employees who have suffered injuries in a workplace accident. Two workers were recently injured in another state after falling from a chairlift.

The accident took place early in the afternoon on August 1. According to officials, the two employees fell while performing some work on the chairlift. Specifically, they were doing some routine maintenance on the lift. The two men fell approximately 30 feet.

Both of the individuals were taken to the hospital via an air ambulance. One of them was determined to be in critical condition. Meanwhile, the other party's condition was deemed serious.

Most companies in North Carolina have to buy workers' compensation insurance to cover employees who are injured while working on the job. Through workers' compensation, injured workers can get a percentage of their regular wages, and they can also receive the medical treatments they so desperately need. There are a couple of benefits of this type of insurance: First, an employee can receive workers' compensation benefits no matter who caused the workplace accident, and second, this type of insurance protects employers from being sued by their employees. In addition, employers cannot legally fire their workers simply because they filed workers' compensation claims. Any worker who is hurt in a workplace accident is entitled to pursue the maximum amount of workers' compensation benefits available in light of his or her situation.
